There are a number of reasons why segmenting customers into distinct groups is a useful endeavor for marketing purposes. This allows a store to send Email Blasts, Push Notifications, or even SMS Messages (texts) straight to the target group. Here’s how to do this:
First, click the SEGMENTATION tab on the menu in the webconsole (liquorapps.com).
Then, click ADD SEGMENTATION ...
In the demo example, we are creating a target group of scotch and bourbon drinkers. Select the corresponding boxes ...
The next step is to select which stores this applies to and then click SAVE ...
Now that the list has been created, the store can see the details of the newly segmented group of customers. To see HOW MANY are in each group, click the little eye under the Export column (circled in green below) and it will show the total.
NOTE – the total number of customers that fit each profile changes all the time, so the store must click the eye every single time to see the refreshed total.
Customers are added via three methods:
They have ordered the selected product(s) before
They have added the selected product(s) to their cart before
They have marked the selected product(s) as “favorites”
Now that the list is created, one way to reach these customers is via an email blast (here is a quick tutorial on how to use the EMAIL BUILDER).
To do this, click on the EMAIL BUILDER tab on the left side and then click BLANK to start from scratch (or you can use STAFF PICKS or whatever else applies) ...
The next screen asks if you would like to add products, so in this case, we can type in the search bar and add some bourbons/whiskeys/scotches or whichever products the store would like to send to the segmented target group of customers:
On the next page, first name the template something that makes sense ...
On the right, you can build everything the way you like with the side menu ...
These can be dragged to the body of the email builder ...
Note, if you want to start the email with the store logo at the top, enter [[STORELOGO]] in the Image URL box circled below on the right and it will automatically be added ...
Continue making the email look the way you want. In this example, we chose to create a new column that was three boxes wide. In each box, we dragged a PRODUCT over from the right, then selected the products we added from the earlier step:
Once you are done, click SAVE & CONTINUE ...
On the next screen, fill out the boxes and then click the drop down menu to choose the target audience that we created ...
After that, you can send it to your customers (or send a test to yourself to see how it turned out) ...
Push Notifications are very simple. Click on the NOTIFICATIONS tab on the left, then you will see a drop down called TARGET GROUP ...
SMS (text messaging) is very similar. Click SMS MESSAGING on the left menu and then TARGET GROUP ...
